Sri Lanka means "Happy Land" in Sinhala and is known as the "Jewel Kingdom" and "Pearl in The Indian Ocean". It belongs to South Asia and is located in the southeast of India. It used to be known as Ceylon. Because Sri Lanka is close to the equator, there is a summer climate all year round. Sri Lanka is considered as the most beautiful island by Marco Polo due to its beautiful coastline, mysterious ancient city, rich natural heritage and unique culture view.
Geographical relations have made her deeply influenced by Indian culture. It is a country where Buddhism is the mainstay and where various religions live in harmony.
