China is one of the four ancient civilizations in the world, with a long history of about 5000 years. China is a multi-ethnic country with Chinese civilization as its source and Han nationality as its main nationality.  Chinese culture is the dominant cultural nation in the East Asian cultural circle and occupies an important position in the world's cultural system. After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the people's Congress system of government was established on the Chinese mainland. Traditional cultural and art forms include poetry, opera, calligraphy, Chinese painting, etc., and the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Qingming, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Chongyang, etc. are important traditional festivals in China. As the official language of China, Chinese is spoken by the largest number of people in the world. The four major inventions in ancient China were papermaking, printing, compass, and gunpowder. Chinese cuisine is divided into eight big cuisines including Shandong cuisine, Sichuan cuisine, Guangdong cuisine, Fujian cuisine, Jiangsu cuisine, Zhejiang cuisine, Hunan cuisine and Anhui cuisine.
