Visa Application

1. Apply for the Visa to Myanmar in the Embassies or Consulates

You can apply for the visa to Myanmar in the embassies or consulates of your country.

 

Materials Needed for Visa Application to Myanmar

  • passport (valid for more than 6 months)
  • visa application form (a 3.8cm*5.4cm photo of color certificate with white background is required)
  • air ticket reservation form
  • copy of ID card

2. E-Visa Application

Travelers can apply for an electronic visa (E-Visa) through the website of the Ministry of Immigration and Population of Myanmar (https://evisa.moip.gov.mm/). At present, it is only for tourism and business, and the approval time is 3 working days. The e-visa is valid for 90 days, of which the tourist visa stays for 28 days.

 

To apply for an e-Visa, you need to:

  • submit a passport valid for more than 6 months
  • upload a photo of a 4.6cm*3.8cm color certificate taken within 3 months
  • pay online with secured payment methods

 

3. Visa on Arrival of Myanmar

Passport holder from the following countries are eligible to apply Visa On Arrival for Tourist Visa:

The Requirements for VISA ON ARRIVAL (Tourist Visa)

  • Traveler shall hold a passport valid for at least 6 months(calculating from the date of entry into Myanmar).
  • Traveler should bring 2 recent (4cm x 6cm) color photos taken within the past six months.
  • Permitted for tourism purpose only.
  • Duration of stay cannot be extended.
  • Traveler shall abide by the existing laws, rules, procedures, orders and directives issued by Myanmar Government.
  • Traveler are allowed to visit the places where foreigners are allowed to visit, which means that the restricted areas in Myanmar are not allowed to visit.
  • Travelers entering through International Airport by Visa On Arrival (Tourist Visa) are allowed to exit from any one of the International entry/exit points.

 

 

Customs

When entering Myanmar, you need to submit a declaration form to the customs of Myanmar. If you bring valuables such as gold and jewelry or more than 2,000 US dollars in cash, you need to declare it truthfully. According to the laws of Myanmar, visitors can bring 400 cigarettes and 2 liters of wine duty-free when entering the country. And customs will check the luggage of visitors.

 

It is forbidden to carry antiques, jadeite stones, wood fossils and other items when leaving Myanmar. If you buy jade, jewelry and other items, you should ask the stores to issue a legal invoice for customs inspection, otherwise they may be treated as illegal items. Customs declaration forms are also required to carry foreign exchange out of customs of Myanmar.
