Phi Phi Don
Phi Phi Don is the largest islands in the Phi Phi archipelago in Thailand. Phi Phi Don is 8 kilometres (5.0 miles) in length and 3.5 kilometres (2.2 miles) wide. Part of the islands are administratively part of Ao Nang in Krabi Province. It is the only island in the group with permanent inhabitants, although most are temporary workers servicing the tourist trade. Like the other islands in the archipelago, Phi Phi Don is a non-volcanic island largely made of limestone. It is almost separated into two islands, but a strand of flat land connects them. On this strand lies the largest settlement on the island, as well as most of the resorts.
What to Expect in Phi Phi Don? - Laem Tong Beach (For Diving)
Laem Tong Beach (also spelled Laem Thong, Golden Bay in Thai) is located on the northeastern side of Koh Phi Phi Don. It is an ideal spot for a relaxing and quiet holiday which is only accessible by boat. Compared with the bustling Tonsai Bay, here is really quite. Few people stay here, so the beach in this area is very clean and almost private. The sea here is pure and the underwater world is multicolor which is suitable for diving. Due to the lack of roads on the island, it is necessary to take a boat from Tonsai Bay to Laem Tong Beach. The charter price is around 600 baht. If you are not staying at a nearby hotel, it is best to travel it as a stop in the round-the-island package.
Accommodation: several hotels near Laem Tong Beach have a good reputation. The only disadvantage is the inconvenience. Catering: There is only one small restaurant near the beach, but the price is reasonable and the taste is good. Besides, there are only restaurants in the hotels which are expensive.
Bamboo Island
Lying approximately five kilometres off the northern tip of Phi Phi Don, Bamboo Island is a stunning tropical hotspot that offers the perfect getaway from the crowds as, despite the fact a few tours from Phuket make a stop here after lunch, the island is most of the time never too crowded. Bamboo Island has beautiful beaches in the east and north and is ideal for sunbathing. The southern part of the island is full of gorgeous coral reefs with many dead coral blocks on the shore, indicating that there are many corals in the nearby waters, so Bamboo Island is one of the best swimming and diving spots in Phi Phi Island.
