The ancient city of Sigiriya was the royal palace area of King Kassapa I between 477 and 495 AD. The ancient city is composed of various gardens, a huge red rock and a sky castle built on the rocks, including moats, ponds, courtyards and fountains. In 1982, it was added to the World Heritage List by UNESCO. This ancient city is a combination of natural wonders and artificial wonders.
