Bhutan is mainly divided into three climate zones.

1. Northern Alpine Climate Zone: Northern Bhutan is Himalayan high mountain area with an altitude of more than 3,000 meters above sea level, which belongs to an alpine climate area. At altitudes above 5,000 meters, the population is small. The climate is characterized by low temperatures, less accumulated temperature, and strong winds. Except for adventure and mountain climbing, few tourists visit this area.
 

2. Central Temperate Climate Zone: Central Bhutan is valley area between 2000-3000 meters above sea level and belongs to a temperate climate. The climate is mild and pleasant. There is no extreme heat in summer and no extremely cold in winter. Annual precipitation is 760 mm~2000 mm. It is suitable for people to visit. The best tourist seasons are autumn and spring. During the day, the average is 21℃. It is recommended to wear short suits, T-shirts, thin denim pants, casual suits and other comfortable clothes. At night, the average temperature is 10℃. It is recommended to wear suits, jackets, windbreakers, casual wear, thin sweaters and other warm clothes.


3. Southern Subtropical Climate Zone: Southern Bhutan is below 1500 meters above sea level belongs to the subtropical climate zone. The climate is characterized by relatively hot, rainy, and humid. The annual precipitation is 5000 mm~6000 mm. The region has lush trees and abundant rain, and it is the main food-producing area of Bhutan. The southern part borders with India, and the border trade is relatively developed.

 

Best Time to Visit Bhutan

Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit Bhutan. From March to May, it is the spring of Bhutan. Peach blossoms and alpine azaleas blooming in the mountains. Dressing Code

What to wear in Bhutan? The climate is mild throughout the year and the temperature difference between morning and evening is large.
