There are many mountains in China, some are magnificent and majestic, some are beautiful and picturesque, some are deeply interconnected with religion and culture. These famous mountains attract many tourists to climb and visit from home and abroad.

Yellow Mountain

Location: Huangshan District, Huangshan, Anhui Province

The Yellow Mountain is a collection of some famous mountains: the grandeur of Mount Tai, the preciseness of Mount Huashan, the clouds and mist of Mount Hengshan, the waterfall of Mount Lushan, the ingenious stone of Yandang Mountain and the coolness of Mount Emei. There are 88 mountains with the altitude over 1,000 meters in the Yellow Mountain Scenic Area.

The Yellow Mountain is famous for its pines, grotesque rocks, sea of clouds, spring and snow in winter. Even in winter, the snow at the Yellow Mountain attracts thousands of visitors to climb up the Yellow Mountain to enjoy the spectacular and magnificent snow.

Lushan Mountain

Location: Lushan, Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province

Lushan Mountain is a famous summer resort in China, where many famous persons of past and present visited and lived. It was listed as World Cultural Heritage in 1996. There are mountains, valleys, caves, rocks, rapids and waterfalls in Lushan Mountain. The most famous waterfall is the Sandiequan Waterfall with a drop of 155 meters. Lushan Mountain is spectacular, grotesque, steep and picturesque.

Lushan Mountain is famous for its picturesque scenery and profound civilization. The literary men of past dynasties like Li Bai and Xu Zhimo, traveled to Lushan Mountain and wrote down some masterpiece poetry. The amazing scenery gave the literary men inspiration for their painting or writing.

Yandang Mountain

Location: Yandang Town, Leqing, Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province

Yandang Mountain is famous for its grotesque peaks, queer rocks and flying waterfalls. As a National Geologic Park, Yandang Mountain takes geologic landscapes as major landscape. At the Yandang Mountain, you will see ancient temples, pavilions, peaks, caves, valleys, streams, lakes, waterfalls, bridges and springs. Yandang Mountain is also a famous summer resort in China.

Many famous literary men of past dynasties came to Yandang Mountain, astonished by the spectacular scene and wrote down many famous poetry of calligraphy. The steep cliffs and a rift in the cliffs are all the splendid work of nature. Hiking on the Yanhugang and sunrise at the Yanhugang are recommended when visiting Yandang Mountain. The water of the waterfall depends on the weather, please check with the stuff in the Yandang Mountain Scenic Area in advance if there is enough water with the waterfall.

Mount Tai

Location: Tai’an, Shandong Province

The Mount Tai has spectacular scenery, long history, rich culture and grotesque landscapes. Mount Tai is famous for its sunrise, sea of clouds, sunset glows and the Yellow River in the distance. Mount Tai is UNESCO World Heritage-Mixed Property, National Geological Park and National AAAAA Scenic Area.

With wonderful landscapes, temples and statues carved on cliffs, Mount Tai attracts thousands of tourists to climb to the top of it and enjoy the feeling of holding all other mountains in a single glance. Hiking lovers and mount climbing enthusiasts will take several hours to get the top of Mount Tai. Mount Hua

Location: Huayin, Weinan, Shaanxi Province

Mount Hua is famous for its spectacular scenery and Daoism. There are many scenic spots in Mount Hua, and tourists will spend a long time to visit Mount Hua in detail. Mount Hua is difficult to climb up to the top among the Five Sacred Mountains of China because it is steepest and most dangerous. Xiyue Temple was first built in Han Dynasty(134 BC), which is the earliest and largest temple in northwest region. Xiyue Temple is the place the the emperors lived when sacrificing at Mount Hua.

The best place to see the sunrise at Mount Hua is Eastern Peak, the Yaozifanshen Plank Road in Eastern Peak is dangerous. The Changkong Plank Road built on wooden brackets fixed into cliffs is exciting and dangerous in Southern Peak. Walking on the Changkong Plank Road is really dangerous, please be careful if you want to challenge yourselves. The Western Peak is the best place to see the sunset at Mount Hua, with the most beautiful scenery. The Monument written Huashanlunjian, landmark of Mount Hua, is in the Northern Peak of Mount Hua, where tourists can have a panoramic view of Mount Hua.

Mount Heng

Location: Nanyue District, Hengyang, Hunan Province

With more than 200 temples, Mount Heng is a famous mountain of Buddhism and Daoism in China. Taking the Zhurong Peak as core, there are 72 peaks in Mount Heng. Mount Heng is 35 kilometers from downtown of Hengyang city. There are streams, bridges, caves, lakes, springs and rocks at Mount Heng.

Many visitors climb up Mount Heng, burn incense and worship at the Damiao Temple. In the ancient town of Nanyue, there are some Buddhist temples, which preserved large quantity of the historic building art. Mount Heng is not very difficult to climb up to the top, but it takes several hours to get to the top. It is paradise for hiking lovers and mount climbing enthusiasts.

Location: Hunyuan, Shanxi Province

Due to the steep landscapes and location, Mount Heng is an important  military stronghold in the north of China. Having experienced wars, many ancient passes, castles, beacon towers and many other ancient battlefield relics are preserved. Mount Heng is famous for its spectacular scenery and the Xuankong Temple built on the middle of the cliffs.

Mount Heng is easy to climb to the top among the Five Sacred Mountains. The highest peak of Mount Heng, Tianfeng Peak, has an altitude of 2,017 meters, which is steep, magnificent and picturesque. The most famous attraction of Mount Heng is the Xuankong Temple, which is built on the middle of the cliffs.

Mount Song

Location: Dengfeng, Zhengzhou, Henan Province

Mount Song is famous for its splendid mountains, long history and rich culture. At Mount Song, you will see temples, waterfalls and statues carved on cliffs. It takes several hours to climb to the top of Mount Song. It is recommended to climb the Mount Song in sunny days. The sunrise at Mount Song is also famous. The Junji Peak, highest peak of Mount Song, is the best place to overlook the Mount Song Scenic Area. Standing on the Zhongyue Viewing Platform, you will have a panoramic view of the Mount Song.

Shaolin Temple is a famous attraction at Mount Song. Built in 495, Shaolin Temple has a history of more than 1,500 years. Shaolin Temple is the birthplace of Chinese Kungfu. Near the Shaolin Temple, there is the largest forest of pagodas in China, under which the monks and head monks of the past dynasties were buried.
